This first book by Sidin Vadukut is a decent attempt. But, I enjoyed reading his blog more than this book. Sidins first attempts to keep the reader engrossed with its plot and hilarious bits, but in general has a staid narrative.
In fact, at one point while reading, I couldnt help thinking if this book was meant to be read mainly the MBA types. The entire story is based on goings on in a corporate office.
So, if you happen to be one of those who thrive on office gossip, then you would probably enjoy it more than I did. It took me quite a while to finish reading this book.
The book narrates the troubles and travails of a fumbling and bumbling guy, from his graduation (from a premier B-school), to (barely) securing a job on campus with a mediocre consultancy firm, and shifting base to Mumbai. The narrative is based on the entries in his personal diary and is in first person.
How he tries to ace his colleagues to impress his bosses for promotion, tries to get a girl-friend, etc. forms the plot of the book.
Unlike a lot of books releasing in the same genre of late, this one is different because readers can relate to some parts of the book and have you grinning at times.
I just hope Sidin makes reading his book more engrossing for the average Joes and makes it as funny as his blog - Domain Maximus.
If you expect a Chetan Bhagat type of story-telling you would be disappointed though.
