This has to have been one of the best programs that I have ever downloaded [apart from AdSubtract]. It has CONSIDERBALY speeded up my download times by up to 300%25. YES, the blurb is ACCURATE a majority of the time. However, it will only obtain that if you have already got a fast connection. DSL, Cable T1, T3, etc. Why: Its because of the bandwith useage allowed by your connection. If you have a modem dial-up connect and download controlled apparatus, then it will not noticeably increase by much, unless your download speeds were a lousy 1-2k/s average, then it might get you to 3-4k/s. I have had DAP now for about 3 months and have downloaded LOTS of large and average files and done tests with Accelerator and Normal downloads [it allows either to be selected]. I live in INDIA, and dont have Cable, DSL, etc. like elsewhere, but have ISDN [VERY expensive], and BROADBAND connection. That is with a 56k Modem Dial-Up connection to the internet, but has satellite/microwave download. I used to get an average 15-80k/s before I got DAP, and REGULARLY get over 150k/s now. Just before submitting this opinion, I did approx. 15 downloads from the same site, using both Accelerated and Normal [Save to disk type] download test. EVERY TIME, the DAP outperformed the Normal download by up to 300%25. Some figures: I downloaded a 5.6Mb file [trashed it each time it downloaded]. With Normal download it took an average of approx. 110-124 seconds at a steady average of 50k/s. With DAP it took just approx. 20-22 seconds at a speed varying from 150 to 250k/s. BRILLIANT. I downloaded the same program each time from the same site all in the space of about 40 minutes to get averages. The other day I downloaded [or started to download] a 96Mb Game using Normal ..... after about 3 minutes at a constant 70k/s, [approx. 23 minutes to download the lot at that speed]. I aborted and did it again using Accelerated. It took about 8 minutes, reaching speeds up to 300k/s and average speed of 200k/s. 8 minutes as opposed to 23 mintutes is close to 300%25 better. [By the way, I also installed and tried that game, it was lousy so uninstalled it, but who cares, did not take much time thanks to DAP]. Those of you with fast connections: GET IT. You will thank me.
I looked through every download manager on this site and all of them say that it can increase your speed by @ least 25%25 you can even check the Gozilla comment but DAP is the best download manager that I have ever used it can increase your speed by 300%25 or more!!! I have a 56k modem and I was downloading at 3k/s with other programs like Gozilla but with this I can download at 70k/s for around tweenty whole minutes!!!!!!!! so I think that u shouldnt bother even looking at anyother download manager becase this one has all the features like Gozilla but it is faster and loads up 10 times faster too!!!!!!!!!
If you have 56K, forget this thing unless you get downloads under 3k/sec, thats first. Second, is, for all the Cable/DSL users out there who dont get good download rates, this will help. I have a 1.5MBps cable line, but downloading normally I only get about 50k/sec usually, which is only 400Kbps. So, I was only using 25%25 of the speed available. Now, I use DAP and have it set to maximum speed. This will download a file in 7 parts. For example, if you have a 14MB file, it will download the first 2MB, the second 2MB, the third 2MB, etc. as seperate files, but AT THE SAME TIME. So, by downloading multiple files of smaller size and putting them together at the end to get the larger file, it will be faster. Now, I hardly ever get below 200K/sec. Which, is actually 113%25 of the maximum speed I should have :) It doesnt matter what program you use, just make sure you get a download manager that supports the split-file feature, like this one. This one just happens to be good because it lets you download up to 7 file parts at once, which can be up to 700%25 the previous speed. Odds are your bandwith will be used up before you reach the 700%25, but 300%25 is very easy to get with cable/dsl. The reason this WONT work good for people with 56K who already get more than 3K/sec, is because their bandwith is limited to 7K/sec (peak maxmimum, 6K/sec is more likely), so 2K/sec would be about 33%25 of their bandwith. You could download in 2 parts, but if you already get more than 3K/sec, this wont help too much. You might get 4K/sec, but nowhere even close to 300%25.
A lot of people are looking for download accelerators. A lot of other people like to say that some work. Theyre wrong, this is the first download accelerator I have ever downloaded that works. It doesnt always work, but it does much more often than not. It increased my download speeds by an average margin of 33-50%25. It has resume support, which is good and I dont exactly understand how it works, but its almost as if it downloads from 4 different locations, when one slows down, it moves on, personally, I dont care, because it works anyway. Get it if you need one.
