First of all, this is not a review on download.com. There are so many reviews on thisgreat website right here, so if you are looking for a review on download.com, I say you are wasting your time reading this.
Try as hard as I might, I couldn’t find a category for the website, http://www.majorgeeks.com.
So, I only deemed it fitting to slot it into the review section of download.com.
First of all, majorgeeks.com differs from download.com in a big way. It gives you the choice on the latest in games, music, software and videos. This website, majorgeeks.com is reserved for the software side. I am not running a comparison between the two websites. Like I mentioned before, there was no place to write this review.
This website will mostly pertain to computer geeks and even maybe the ’non-geek’ to a certain extent. This is because you will find the newest in software in terms of browsers, data recovery, benchmarking, data back up, firewalls, game tweaks and patches, antivirus, anitspyware, registry, software, the list goes on...
The site has a very simple layout and is easy to access, I mean, to move through the contents. No popups here, and no form asking you to register. Phew. What a relief !
The best thing is the main page, where there are tabs indicating the date and then the list of softwares uploaded at that time. There is a top downloads this week section to help you know which are the major softwares being downloaded and yes, you can read a description of it as well.
A major pointer to you freebie hunters out there. All downloads aren’t free. I mean downloading them is free, but some will only offer you a 30 day trial after which you will need to buy it. A reasonable amount of the softwares here are free, so dont cry just yet.
If you are not satisfied by the neatly categorised menu on the left side of the home page, 37 in all, you can use the search box to narrow your search. You might want to try this site, for those ’’never available driver’’ u were just looking for. And before I forget, take time to visit the off-base and way off-base pages as you scroll down in the main page.
