It’s been 2 years since my last Eye checkup, and I’m really due for my next checkup. Initially I tried making an Appointment with Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital, but it is almost impossible to fix up an Appointment with them. The waiting period is almost two months. Fed up with this I decided to give it a try with Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital as it was recommended by one of my Friends.
Making an Appointment was not a problem. I immediately got a slot for the weekend (saturday morning). Registration was fast, no much queue. So far so good. (The reason probably could be since I went early in the morning. It could have been a different story if I had gone there after 10 AM).
But its sad to say that my fairy tale story with Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital ends here. The moment I was attended to, everyone (Optometrist and Doctors) started talking me into Laser surgery. Though I would very much like to have laser surgery, it is ruled out at this point due to the huge expense. The point I try to make here is that they are very money-minded.
Finally the main reason why I had a bad impression with Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital is that the power they prescribed for me is wrong. When I had the specs made with the prescribed power I immediately realized that the power is wrong on my Left Eye. Around Rs 1800 wasted. I’ve been wearing specs for the past 15 years with periodic eye checkup, probably around once in two years. Never have I got a wrong prescription. So, it was unacceptable from my part for this kind of mistake, especially with well established Hospital like Agarwals.
Even if the waiting period is around 2 months I feel it’s more worth it to go to Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital. This could be a stray case but its enough to prompt me to write this review and vow myself never to step my foot in this Hospital again.
