Dear all,
PERSONAL IMPRESSION:- DR. BATRAS CLINIC IN SAKINAKA MUMBAI IS A RACKET.
=============================================================
I am middle age well paid executive of MNC living in Andheri area of Mumbai. I have chronic sinusits and was looking to treat it. I need good treatment and am quite capable and willing to pay well for it.
Since Dr. Batras advertized very heavily in newspapers and since they announced a clinic in Sakinaka area of Mumbai which is close to my office, I decided to visit.
1. Encounter one:- Yesterday evening I called them and asked for location. They told me the name of building. Since I did not know that building I asked for landmark. Theconcerned person said that first I should make an appointment and then he will tell me landmark. I said that before I decided to visit them I must know landmark (as I was not interested to waste much time in traffic jams in sakinaka area. I wanted to go to them only if location was convenient to me). I felt it very unusual. It felt like I was dealing with a professional high pressure telemarketing company. I cut the phone and called again.
Next person told me the landmark and I fixed appointment to see them today. He told me to bring a Times of India advert of Dr. Batras to avoid paying consultation fee of Rs.250/-
2. Encounter two:- I visited the clinic today. Signed my name in the security register, went to reception, sent to second reception. Very nice clean place. Some body asked for tea. The receptionist went to doctor.
This is gist of what I overheard:- " I must have two more appointments today. At any cost. etc...." The identity of the speaker is not clear to me.
3. Encounter three:- Ushered in to Dr. Jinal Mehta. Young lady. She asked me a few questions. Typed vigorously on her computer. She looked nervous. Explained me about sinusitis (partly wrongly) and homeopathy. I said to her that there was no need to explain as I was already a convert to homeopathy.
Dr. Mehta told me that first I have to register. A doctor will take my case history and all my details. Then they will start treatment. I will have to visit once a month.
Homeopathic treatment is slow and takes lot of time according to Dr. Mehta. She told me that they had three courses of 1, 2 and 3 years and she told me the cost of each. I asked her how much time is recommended for me. Dr. Mehta said that sinusitis is auto immune deficiency disease (i think only some cases of acute sinusitis may be auto immune deficiency cases. Mine is chronic sinusitis and this was told to Dr. Mehta) and according to WHO one has to watch for 8 seasons and that means 2.5 years.
I was upset at this. Without any check up, without having tried to treat me and seen the results of the treatment, without any thought whatsoever to my treatment, the lady wanted to push a course to me.
I left. I feel that they are just to make out as much money as quickly as possible.
I have no probs with doctors treating patients at a high cost and making pots of money. But such behaviour and method is unethical. This is just high pressure marketing organization with all the ills associated with such organizations.
KINDLY ADVISE ME IF THERE IS ANY MEDICAL COUNCIL OR ASSOCIATION OF HOMEOPATHS WHERE I CAN COMPLAIN.
LET US ALL BE CAREFUL of such dangerous doctors/clinics/rackets. LET US ALL FIGHT THIS BY DOING FOLLOWING:-
TELL ALL WE COME IN CONTACT WITH, IN A DISPASSIONATE WAY, ABOUT DR. BATRAS CLINICS METHODS AND DRAWBACKS. Word of mouth is said to be most important marketing method and it can be most effective though slow weapon.
COMPLAIN TO THE RELEVANT ORGANIZATIONS.
DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO MAKE HIGH PRESSURE GROUPS TO FIGHT SUCH COMPANIES.
USE THIS SITE OR OTHER METHODS TO COORDINATE OUR ACTIONS.
AND THEN TAKE THOSE ACTIONS.
