Plantar Fasciitis - only Dr who made a difference

I have seen a number of reviews of Dr. Deepak Sharan and am compelled to write this review. I have had problems with my heel for a few years now. I had visited 5 Orthos, done MRI in Fortis and was given a diagnosis of heel pad syndrome and was told it is self-limiting and will go away on it’s own. It did not. I then went to Sparrc institute Bangalore for a bit. The therapists there sort of coaxed me to say I am feeling better and put me on’fitness training". I was not really feeling all the better and from a referral I went to Recoup.

Now, Dr. Deepak is not very social in his interactions. I have hardly seen him smile and it does make one feel uncomfortable. But he was the first person who took my situation seriously enough to look at a holistic approach for cure. It has taken me close to 2 years of therapy including a few rounds of prolotherapy and PRP, which only Dr. Deepak Sharan can do at such rates for me to get to a a good space. I also had doubts - but they were not so much if the Doctor is good but if my condition will be resolved. I believe each person’s case is unique and therapies work differently for different people. At Recoup, I have been exposed to physiotherapy, trigger point release, dry needling, aquatic therapy, PEMF, laser treatment, Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP). You are not going to find this gamut of expertise anywhere else.

It so happened that I also developed neck and shoulder pain during this time. They helped me with that as well. It’s not a marketing gimmick. I was not forced to take up every suggestion he gave. In fact the therapists taught me and my wife how to do some of the therapies ourselves. Over time, my situation has improved and I hardly frequent them these days.

A lot of the work Dr. Deepak Sharan does is for children with cerebral palsy. He is perhaps the only surgeon int he whole world who can do SEMLARASS. He does these for many patients with low means.

The hospital is not polished like a Fortis or Columbia Asia. But that is because Recoup does a lot of work for the lower privileged sections of society. Folks who are reading this may be expecting a highly professional looking environment with extroverted therapists and physicians. This is not that place. But I can assure you that it is clean. The reception and operations staff may not be uniformed well-put together professionals we encounter in corporate hospitals. But I can assure you they give it their best and sincere people. Also, I think we need to realise that for many of us who are over 35 and have neuro muscular issues, it will take years to get better and in most cases we will need to change our lifestyles. It’s just how it is.
