In spite of hearing about Dr. Kavitha being money-minded, I still went to Gloss Dental Clinic for wisdom tooth extraction as I felt that I would get good treatment. In Feb 2016 I got a wisdom tooth extracted for which she charged me 3500. Even though I felt that it was quite expensive, it was still fine to an extent as there was impaction in my tooth and it was quite complicated. And she even included free cleaning of my teeth within the package so I was not dissatisfied with the cost.
The following month I went back for another wisdom tooth extraction which was a straight elevation and not at all complicated. Even then, she charged me the same amount and despite my request to reduce the cost as this time it was a simpler extraction, she started giving excuses and as I didn’t want to argue too much I gave in. 2 weeks post extraction and post stitches removal, I saw the area in the mirror and was psyched to see a gaping hole where the tooth was extracted more so since I had got stitches in the area. I immediately called up Dr. Kavitha and told her about it to which she said it is normal and it takes about 45-60 days for complete healing. As for the food accumulation in the area, she said I could bring a 2 ml syringe and drop in to the clinic anytime to get a rinse. I went the very next day and she tells me that I need to pay for the saline rinse(it is nothing but just spraying the area with a syringe to ensure better cleaning of the gap). I was definitely not happy with paying further after I had already paid 3500 for an extraction that could have costed me only about 1000-2000 in any other good dental clinic. At that point of time I felt like I was being taken for a ride and I said I will buy a syringe and do it on my own at home. She got offended and started being rude on realising that I am not going to pay a single penny more and I’d rather do the simple rinsing on my own at home. I found it quite funny that all the while when I was willing to pay whatever she was asking for, she treated me really well and on realising that I will not pay anything more without reason, she lost it. Anyway, I hope all my bad luck has gone with the excess money I have paid. I wonder how her conscience allows her to over-charge. I’m sure she would have done better and had even more patients repeatedly visiting her had she been more reasonable with costs and treatment.
Anyone visiting her clinic, please be informed that you are definitely going to be charged more than required.
