Dr.(Ms) Herat Parmar, My mother was admitted to Hiranandani Hospital by Dr. Atul Shah under him for treatment of fracture neck femur . He told us that he is Honorary at Hiranandani Hospital . We knew that he was attached as honorary since years at BMC Rajawadi Hospital . However we did not know that he had retired and was only attending OPD and was not operating at all at BMC Hospital. We came to know that he was totally out of touch to perform major surgery.
His attachment to Hiranandani made us believe that Hiranandani Hospital appointment of Dr, Shah as honorary was done after scrutiny and confirmation as to his proficiency in surgery .But we came to realise too late that this hospital appoints many consultants as honorary, simply to earn revenue . Doctors use this ploy to entice patients proclaiming it as status symbol and thus cheating, one presumes that in multispeciality hospital only reliable competent and proficient consultants get attachment and patient is in safe hand . But one is in fools paradise .
Dr, Shah operated my mother for fracture neck femur and she continued to get unbearable pain and was in severe agony. But Dr. Shah just continued to state that all is done well and she will recover. I insisted on second opinion which was unwillingly allowed by Dr, Shah.
Dr. Jain full time orthopedic surgeon examined and on my insisting to take X-Ray it amply proved that Dr. Shah had performed botched surgery and implant was not of proper size and screws used were short hence implant had been displaced,
Dr. Jain most reluctantly opined that it was botched surgery, My mother had to remain in ICU(SO CALLED) foe 12 days with agonizing pain but Dr. Shah instead of suggesting as what to do further simply insisted that "OPERATION WAS SUCCESS"
We were discharged on our insisting on discharge and my mother was discharged "DMMA" i.e against medical advice, She developed medical complications during ICU stay and severe pain all 12 days at Hiranandani Hospital.
She had to undergo second operation as there was no way out. although operation was successful medical complications snatched away my mother, Totally preventable loss of life.
Her suffering, torture and ICU investigations etc is " NIGHT MARE " for us.
All this was written to Hiranandani Medical director Dr, Sujit, BMC, and association of medical consultatnts. but all in vain.
Medical negligence in various forms and at various levels is rampant but our blaming DESTINY & GOD"S Wish attitude is blessing in disguise for doctors and hospitals, surprisingly instead of helping consultant doctors association have appointed battery of advocates to help even glaringly medical negligent cases!
Legal remedy at any court is just "WISHFUL THINKING" BEWARE AND TRY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST IN PRESENT SCENERIO.
