From childhood, we used to go to Dr. Lal’s Path lab for any pathological tests. Recently I was advised some blood tests and I choose to go to the collection center at Dwarka Sector 6 DDA Flats, being close to where I stay.
The place was very stuffy. It was a small room, where people just walked into askign for reports etc. The technician(i am not sure if he was one, as he would double up as a receptionist too, answering phone calls!) was not at all experienced. He could not find a vien in my hand(you would need to trust me, that till now I have never had any problems while giving a blood sample, nor am I afraid of needles), he kept trying, well finally he inserted the needle but could not draw out the blood, he kept moving the needle under my skin for close to 10 mins! This was enough for me as I started to feel dizzy, and lost consiousness! the whole procedure took close to half an hour where the so called techinician would answer calls in between, speak to other patients/customers who were coming to collect the reports. Later on when my husband told him that he did not take the sample well, he said "nahi aisa nahi hai, humare yahan toh kafi log behosh ho jaate hain, isi liye humne glucose rakha hua hai!"
Secondly, we realised that he did not wear gloves before drawing out sample! nor was he wearing a lab coat! Later on he insisted that we pay the money upfront otherwise he will not be able to send the sample to the lab! We were not carrying that much money with us so my husband dropped me home and took the money while he was about to reach the place, he got a call from the collection center asking us do we want to send the sample or not! Though my husband also told him to behave in a professional manner, but I do not think it would have made any difference. We told the technician to put up a notice in the centre saying that 100% payment needs to be made in advance, but he argued out against it but still insisted on the payments beign made in advance!
Probably management of Dr. Lal’s Path lab need to closely monitor their collection centres and the staff there else, the well earned reputation would go down the drains in no time.
Well, I will choose any other good professional labnext time onwards.
