Dragon ball super, is a continuation of the Dragon ball Z anime. As the title suggests, it is purely an ascension to the next level in the terms of the plot and the story, If by any chance, you have not seen the predecessors, then please do so.
you will see a bound and leaps of change in the characters as well, and some new characters involved now, with an old villain been revived as a new challenge. Here, you would see goku battling gods now.
The only thing I found bad in the anime is that it is a whole goku show at times. you would barely see anyone in action rather than goku and vegeta(vegeta also gets very less chances at fame). It in an current ongoing anime that means you are not left behind much if you wanna start. Though english dub hasnt been out yet, you might have to work out with the english subs.
