Ve watched this movie again and again and I never get tired of watching it. Probably because it was so well picturised.
Sean Connery was the integral part of the movie. Dennis Quaid was also good.
The story is set in a time where dragons and miracles existed.
Sean has given the characteristics of his personality to the dragon. Its very easy to imagine Sean with the dragon. They have molded the character of sean with the dragon very well. Sean speaks and acts for the dragon.Special effects make it seem so real.
The story starts with a king and a prince. The price is taking fighting lessons under Dennis Quaid. In a battle the prince is wounded very badly and his mother, the queen takes him to the dragon and the dragon saves him by giving him a portion of his heart. They become connected. The prince is very cruel and has all the vices that makes a spoilt prince. The dragon gives the heart in the hope of saving the prince from becoming an evil and cruel ruler.
But this does not help matters. The prince is worse then ever. Dennis Q. who is a knight leaves the service of the prince and takes up slaying dragons as a profession. He blames the dragon for saving an evil human being. He is done with slaying all the dragons and then he meets this dragon who happens to be the last of the surviving dragons. This dragon is very cunning. He strikes a deal with this knight( Dennis Quaid) that he would act to die in front of the villagers and the knight would get money. They would both be happy. The dragon would live and the knight would get the money. They carry out this act with different villages and its fun to watch the way the dragon acts dead.
In the course of time, they become friends and the dragon is named DRACO by the knight. Then the knight comes to know that DRACO is the same dragon who gave life to to the same prince. He is furious but the dragon tells him that by giving the prince his heart he had hoped that the evil part would be overcome by the goodness of his heart.
They then decide to fight the prince and against injustice.
They make friends with a girl who also agrees to help.
In the fight that ensues, the dragon is captured. Its very poignant when the dragon tells the knight to kill him because that is the only way the prince would die as they were connected. That would be the only way DRACO could make ammends.
The knight after lot of convincing kills the dragon with tears in his eyes and the prince also dies as a result.
The dragon’s soul becomes a star.
All in all the movie is very captivating.The photography is execellent , specially the when the dragon comes into the scene.
The director has done a good job with the movie. It is suitable for both adullts and kids. Script and screenplay are also good.
You will not only enjoy the visual effects but the dialogues are alos very interesting and humourous !!
So check it out !! Its playing in AXN in TV. They usually repeat movies. so watch it when it is showing.
