Party tonight? Confusion looming large? Don’t know what to wear? Well, don’t fret just read on!
Almost every single time before those casual get-togethers on weekends, I have to face a dressing dilemma(mostly because throughout the rest of the day on weekends I walk around the house looking like wild zombie! No offence to zombies…hehe). Every party forces me to get my lazy self up and try to look more presentable. Now if you have Lazy-omnia like me, this can be quite a task! So, to make this task easier, I present you with 3 Basic Tips for Dressing up for a Casual Party
1. Planning
Casual parties don’t require a whole lot of thinking, and should not require much advance planning. Start this process at the most an hour before leaving, and you should be fine. Do Not go out and buy new clothes for every party every weekend. Unless you’re the Prince of Money-tana or the Queen of Goldieland, your money is not worth wasting for these casual affairs! I’m not saying that you dress up in old rags either, no you’re not going to be cleaning your garage tonight!
This is the time to improvise! Open your wardrobe, look carefully at all the clothes you have(in my case, I also have to look on the floor, on the bed, under the table, on the sofa…but that’s beside the point!) Do Not bother too much about the fact that you’ve already worn an outfit once or twice. Trust me on this one, much that you think people notice you, most of them wont even remember or bother to care about what your wear! So, dig in that closet and you’ll surely find something!
2.What goes best?
Jeans! Yes! They go with anything and everything! And if you don’t want to wear your jeans, and opt for something more traditional, girls can go for a casual salvaar kameez, while guys can sport a cool white kurta! Trust me(…again! Yes I know…it might be hard, but at least try!), this is Not the time to go all out and bare all! It’s just a casual get-together and I’m guessing its no special occasion. So leave that backless shimmering dress, or that fancy tie in their place for now and go for something simple! Remember, subtlety and simplicity aren’t just useless virtues! They actually work!
3.Accessories
Be sure to accessorize in moderation and not go completely over-board! Take a close look at the outfit that you’re going to be wearing and then go and pick your accessories. Remember to make sure that your accessories do not clash with the outfit, because in that case not only will you spoil the look of the outfit, but your accessories are also going look out of place. Wearing a pure gold Nau-lakha(necklace worth 9 lakhs) or a designer diamond embedded wristwatch are not exactly appropriate for a casual party! Go easy on the accessories and chant the “subtlety and simplicity” chant even while you pick them!
Important things to remember
§ Go easy on the make up because, believe me, people can tell if you’re wearing fake eyelashes or too much lipstick!
§ After leaving for the party, try not to fuss to much over your dress as you really cannot do anything about it once you’ve left. So just be confident and go!
§ Its just a hi-hello sort of get together and even if you want to… ahem “impress” someone, dressing too well will only make you look more out of place and more conscious. Just be yourself and don’t bother too much about what you’re wearing. Concentrate more on what you talk about because in the end, that’s what really counts!
§ Just have fun! The word “casual” itself coveys that you do not have to be all formal prim and propah! So just loosen up and party!
