Review : Last year I placed an order with Drugstore.com for a prescribed skin cream. I ordered a brand name cream and compared to our local pharmacies and online pharmacies, Drugstore.com offered the best price. My first order was filled to my satisfaction.
However I recently placed another order, specifying the same brand with generics being unacceptable, but this time they decided to send a generic substitute because the physician indicated it was acceptable. When I questioned how they overrode my request, they stated the decision was made based on the medical background I provided and the option for substitute checked on the prescription. Unfortunately, they also informed me that <b ONLINE PRESCRIPTIONS ARE NOT RETURNABLE.>
Had I filled this prescription at the local pharmacy, there would have been some dialogue about the generic vs. the brand name and I would have stated my preference (which I did on my order to Drugstore.com) and received what I wanted. I placed this prescription with Drugstore.com for the sole purpose of getting the brand name product at a lower cost however, because the generic product haS AN ACID CONTENT warning which the previous product I ordered did not, I will not use it and have therefore wasted $33.00. Lastly if you bravely forge ahead and order online, ensure that your physician does not check generic on the prescription if that is not what you want because this pharmacy will ignore your request and fill or order with the cheaper brand. And unlike if you were physically at the pharmacy and discovered this error, you cannot return this prescription.
