Babuji aur Behnji , Zara Bach ke Chalo , Bijli giri yahan bijli giri !!!
Who would have thought that after making his debut with the hard hitting Shool and the Fargo take off Love ke liya kuch bhi karega , director E.Nivas would make a turkey like Dum !!
Of course his mentor Ram Gopal Varma was not there to Assist him in this venture unlike his previous two flicks that Mr. Varma produced and that could be one of the reasons why Nivas faltered big time with this flick. You begin to realize that you have made a big mistake by coming to see this film right as the first scene begins to unfold and then just pray that this headache of a movie ends as soon as possible.
The story is nothing new- There is Vivek Oberoi who dreams of becoming a police officer but due to circumstances ( ???? ) he ends up loggerheads with the local don played by Atul Kulkarni and takes up law in his own hands. His dreams of becoming a police officer is dashed and he begins the clean up job of society..Hah , what an exiting script !!
Diya Mirza is there just for you know what-song and dance routine..Taking of song and dance , there is not much to say , really...Sandeep Chowtas music is disappointing except for the title track and oh yes , the babuji number..
Vivek Oberoi tries to follow up the tough guy act that he played so well in Company and he doesnt disappoint so much. An okay performance from him.
Sushant Singh plays the Good Friend act , the kind who does not have a life of his own and moves like a shadow with his friend and is willing to do anything that his Good Friend tells him to do ....If thats not clichéd then how about this - he sacrifices his life ( did he actually die ? I dont seem to remember ! ) by taking the bullet fired by the goon meant for Vivek on his heart !! I mean cmon , man !!!
Atul Kulkarni is a good actor and he gives in a good performance as the local goon.
But overall a hugely disappointing film from E.Nivas. Technically the film is ok but when the script itself is so hackneyed , who care’s about the technicalities. The only good thing about this film is the sizzling Yana Gupta number !
At last just a question for Mr .Nivas .Did you actually direct Shool ?
