''THE PERFECT STRINGS''

“Music with a right cord is really music to ears”

Though writing reviews on music is not my cup of tea and I might be very bad at it, but still couldn’t help it, as this is my favorite album and would like to share my views on what I feel about this album. I have my traveling companion in the form of Yanni, Enigma and prodigy, the latest edition in my walkman is

“Duur”

Pakistani singers have always been really very good, with nice combination of lyrics and melodious music and singers whether you talk about maestro Nustra Fateh Ali Khan or the sensational “Junoon” or the ever melodious Adnan Sami. Last year I was driving in my friends car and he was playing this new album by Pakistani group Strings. Though initially I didn’t like it but the more I started listening to it, I start getting addicted to it. Hence, I got this CD from my friend and then started my journey with this new music companion. I must have listened do this album at least 1000times, but I never got bored, in fact the more I listen, more I started liking it.

“Duur”

To describe this “Strings “Experience I would give you a count of my real feelings going in my mind when I am listening to it and that would depict the mesmerizing effect this album has on me.

“Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar“

The ‘A’ side of the album starts with a slow beat which starts moving upward like a typical rock song, with blend of perfect guitar chord and the drums, which instantly takes me to an island which is fully lust green and I am driving all alone with waterfalls on both the sides and a slow humming of ”Saar ke hai yeh bahar, Dariyoan ke gehari yoh me tuje doonda hai, ati ja ek baar, tere aane se na loote mere mann ka karar.”, the perfect blend of Urdu and Hindi lyrics creates an immense impact when you listen to the song. By the time the song gets over, I am in a different world.

Lyricist: Bilal Maqsood

”Duur.(Title Track)”

The drives is very smooth and it move towards a desert, were I get stuck up in a storm and I fully lost in the desert’s wilderness as the drum beat gets higher and higher and some one starts humming, “Duur…Duur…Duur se koi aaye , kahi chupke se dil me samyeee”. Though I have never visited Rajasthan, I find myself all alone in an empty palace in search of something I really don’t know what am I searching, as the heavy use of Electronic Guitar and the drum beat is taking me in a trance mood, as I keep searching and hiding away from something I don’t know.

Lyricist: Anwar Maqsood

”Kutch To Ho Gaya“

This palace search and the desert search is mesmerizing me and has already created an amazing impact on me, as I move towards an empty city…(A la Vanilla Sky) were I am running all alone as the Guitar beat is taking me in a sub-trance mood as a mellow voice singing “Kuch tho ho gaya, meri jaan Kuch tho ho gaya…Yeh chand tare, nadiyan kinare…”, and my mind hovering over an empty city, I have already achieved my MOKSH. Though a bit slow song, it really creates an amazing impact.

Lyricist: Zehra Nigah

”Anjaane“

As soon as the previous song gets over, I am already into a land which is again empty but it’s the land which is an plain of nothing but emptiness as I keep running haywire to the heavy electronic beats of the guitar and drum. As the beats gets heavier, the words are making me mad, “Dekha TUje jo hua, hua, mai dewaana dekh ke aise sa laga, laga, saathi purana…Hua Anjaane Ku..”. The best thing of this song is its lyrics, which has got great meaning. That’s what has made this entire album a great experience.

Lyrics: Anwar Maqsood

”O’ Jaane Wale“

As my journey towards different lands takes a new turn, I reach the cold desert of the world and all I see is the white empty land covered with snow, as I sit down on my knees looking towards the sky as the mellow slow song, “Who Jaane Wale….Ja ja re Ja…Tu Takh jayee …hai mujko patha…..”every word of this song creating an impact, which talks to me about my daily rush with the life. Such an awesome experience I never had.

Lyrics: Anwar Maqsood.

Side B..

Due to space constraint I wouldn’t go ahead my mental experience, as I would just give you the names of the song, but let me tell you, SIDE B becomes much stronger and it creates further impact. Never before I have found a music album so engrossing and so tantalizing.

The Side B Songs are …

  1. Duur (Reprise..Remix) …It’s a very nice remix

  2. Khwaab…(Again Amazing Lyrics by Anwar Maqsood)

  3. Jaane …(My Favorite of this album…Lyrics by Anwar Maqsood)

  4. Khirki…(Only Dull Song of this Album…Lyrics by Anwar Maqsood)

5 Aankhen ..(Amazing Number…Lyrics Anwar Maqsood)

After listening to this album, I really got to know the worth of these Pakistani Albums. Like Junoon’s first album, Strings, has come out with a complete winner. The amazing combination of Rock music and Urdu/Hindi lyrics has made this album a sure winner. The lyrics really have an amazing meaning behind it. Most of them are romantic but it tells many things. Hence, this album has put a perfect “String Experience.
