Crookes Healthcare: is aiming to become the UK’s number one seller of Over The Counter (OTC) medicines, currently they are third. Sir William Crooke and his son Henry founded Crookes Healthcare in 1912. However in 1971 the Company was sold to the chemist giant Boot’s, and is now part of Boots Healthcare International.
Crookes Healthcare has fourteen household brands under its belt but the most famous are probably: Nurofen (Pain relief); Strepsils (Sore throat relief); Clerasil (spot relief); Optrex (sore eye relief); and E45 creams and lotions.
E45 is a subtle blend of ingredients that have been dermatologically tested, and is allergy screened. It also has no perfume and is non greasy. E45 is the nation’s number one skincare brand for dry, sensitive skin comprising a range of Cream, Lotion, Wash, Bath, and recently launched Shower formulation. When you skin becomes red, itchy or inflamed reach for the e45. I have recently had an operation as some of you know, and following the removal of my bandage-some two weeks later, it was suggested I needed to moisturise my scar and delicate tissue of the surgical procedure. When I asked what to use, I was pointed in the direction of the UK’s best selling skin care –e45. I recalled when I had my skin grafts a few years back, I was also told to use this cream or nivea. The fact that e45 is (or was) available on prescription was an added bonus (although I am not sure whether this has now been taken off prescription). Upon removal of the bandages following my operation, my skin was flaky and very dry. As I have already said I was told to use e45, and went to my local Boot’s the chemist where I bought some moisturiser from e45 (which as we now know is part of the shop I bought it in- Boots). I took it home and read the instructions. ~”Use as often as required on hands, body and face, to help keep dry and sensitive skin soft, subtle and moisturised.”~ I decided to apply it mornings and night times before and after sleep. Within two days of using it I could see visible improvement. My skin though still a little flaky and dry had improved! Now two more days on, my skin is almost back to normal, though I have been told to keep using the lotion.
The E45 range helps make caring for problem dry skin easy. The creams are simply effective moisturisers that help keep problem dry skin soft and flexible. They work by restoring water to the skin and forming a protective barrier, in a similar way to natural oils, to prevent water loss. There are more products for more intensive use in the range, and you can check them out by visiting your nearest ‘Boots’ or the companies web site at: https://skinexpert.net/range/index.html
The moisturiser comes in 200ml and 500ml pump pack, and is sold in most major supermarkets, pharmacies and of course Boots. Outside the UK you can buy it in: South Africa and New Zealand. In Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand it is sold under the name of Balneum The key ingredients are: Petrolatum, Paraffinum Liquidum, Hypoallergenic Anhydrous Lanolin (Medilan). Prices for the moisturising lotion in Boots are 200ml = £3.59, while the 500 ml pump pack = £6.75. Recommended by the consumer press, E45 has recently entered into a programme affinity partnership with Carlton TV (UK), resulting in the highly successful sponsorship of “Peak Practice”.
