Buy Good, Feel Great

I came across Earthy Goods products on a blog. I quite liked the idea of totally herbal, natural products. I checked their website and this is what it says “Earthy Goods was set up as a social enterprise in 2007 after a four month road trip to villages across remote rural outposts of India. As we travelled, we met many entrepreneurs and artisans who made natural products with traditional methods and immense goodness but faced challenges to market their products on fair terms.* *We choose products that support local farmers and employment in villages.” I knew there are a lot of brands with similar products but I was impressed by the concept.

They sell their products online- called as Earthstore, a link to which is present on the home site i.e. https://earthygoods.co.in. They only have a physical presence in some NCR stores so most people can only buy it online. Also they have a range of products like skin and hair care, natural food like jams, jellies, honey, herbal tea, also candles, aromatic oils and some special products like madhubani-painted stoles. I’ve shopped online and brought only the skin care stuff but it is more than wonderful. I’ll only comment on that and write this as a review for the online shopping experience.

The online store does not carry a lot of details so I mailed them. They replied and I talked to a really nice person called Venkatesh who clarified a lot of things. I’ve placed 2 orders with them and I don’t think I’ll stop buying from them.

THE GOOD THINGS:

-The product quality is amazing. I bought scrubs, face washes and body butters and I can’t praise them enough.

SLES(sodium Laureth Sulphate) and SLS(Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) free!

No chemicals incl. preservatives. Have a complete ingredient list(unlike most Indian products)

Great fragrance

Complete value for money(The prices are more compared to drugstore brands but much less than brands like Bath and Body, The Body Shop.)

-The site is simple to use though you have to get registered.

-Timely Delivery: They took 4-5 days for delivery each time. The packaging was not bad and products were totally unharmed. They charge the courier rates acc to product weight and distance, and it appears when you check out. It is normally not much, but if you order jams etc, it might be a lot.

  • Customer Support is good, though after initially talking to them, I didn’t find much need to contact them.

==THE NOT-SO-GOOD: ==I wouldn’t call it bad, but I think they are operating on relatively limited sources and need to improve on some things.

-A clear delivery and returns policy is not mentioned on the site. The customer care person helped me with that. He told me that they have a refund policy in case of wrong or damaged products, I ordered on faith and haven’t regretted it.

-They do not send a shipment tracking number. But my products reached in 4-5 days in very good condition.

-No Cash on delivery.

All in all, I would surely buy from them again but I did give them feedback and it’ll be better if they incorporate some of it. On a last note, I can’t deny that it gives me a tinge of satisfaction that my money is going(via a long way) to Indian villages and not another money grubbing Multinational!
