I would also like to share my experience with Radio Taxi Service in Delhi. I requested this cab for the first time as it was recommended strongly by my friend. I live abroad so did not had previous experience.
On 7th evening I called into 43434343 and asked the operator to get me a cab to the Railway station. After taking all necessary information the gentleman told me NOT to disconnect as I will be connected to a voice response to receive the cab number and in case I need to cancel then I have to call them back within 5 mins from this point onwards. After waiting for about 10 mins I did not get any cab number. Announcement suggested that the cab was still being searched.
I called up from my other phone and the person at the desk apologised and said that the number has already been allocated and you will get this cab within 15 mins. I clarified to the agent that I would need the cab in next 10-15 mins else I will loose my train. Note: I am deliberately not giving any cab driver’s name and number (I do have the details). After waiting for about 10 mins the cab driver called me and told me (knowing the delhi traffic conditions) that he is in Nehru Place and in no way he can be at my place within 15 min. While central office told him to see if he can still make it.
All this caused me lot of stress and un-easyness. Finally I had to make my own arrangements and could board the train at nick of time.
To summerise:
The voice response system did not work and I wated about 10 mins while I could have called another cab or would have been under less stress
The drivier was allocated the job that he could not deliver, central office should understand the urgency / criticality of the customer as it could result in major stress and loss of money.
