Flying in the sky is now easier than never before. Whether flying to the fashion world of Paris, historic city of Warsaw, romantic Rome or the lovely London you can now rely on a single airline for all your travel. Easyjet now flies to nearly 300 airports across Europe and the Mediterranean.
I have travelled extensively on Easyjet across many routes. My experience may hence help make other travellers’ life easy.
Pre-flight
Booking online for flights is not a new idea but EasyJet made online booking the norm. With an easily navigatable website, the whole process of buying your tickets could be over in a minute or two. It is one of the first airlines to go ticket-free and used unique reference number for each passenger instead. With the number in your memory, your driving license(say for ID) and a credit card in your pocket, your travel becomes so easy and stress-free. In spite of the deceptive tax free costs usually advertised, the average cost of travel in EasyJet is one of the lowest in its class, especially if booked well in advance. You have the options to buy travel insurance, car parking space and book hotel or rental cars online.
Flight
At the airport, EasyJet staffs in their flashy orange top are easy to find. They are always polite and friendly as expected of them. Boarding flights is in the order of your check-in unless you have opted for’speedy boarding’ at an extra cost, you are a woman with child, or disabled. There is no business or first class seats. No seat numbers. One can grab any available seats. Seats are as roomy as it can get with a low cost airline. As most of them are short haul flights, its not a big worry unless you are unusually big. You can get some food and drinks, as well as gifts that you can buy onboard, most of which are usually expensive for an average customer. I would say, don’t bother. Flight attendants are invariably attractive, so if you are not talking or reading, can just stare at someone throughout the journey. You will soon be at your destination.
Post-flight
After a warm smiling good-bye by the staff, get out and get your checked-in luggage as usual. No surprises there. With their Europcar, car rental company, desk at each airport they serve, you have a choice of cars to drive to your final destination.
Tips
If you want to change your booking, it might be cheaper to make a new booking than cancelling and changing your booking.
Have your own full-cover travel insurance. Easyjet only provides for limited insurance pertaining to that journey.
Book early if you know your schedule, you can get it dirt cheap, even with taxes added.
