EBay in India seems to be operating on completely different standards. May be they figured out here everything "chalta hein".

There are many shops on eBay that deal on items not meant for Indian markets and/or not imported through proper channels. In other words, what we call Black Market items.

I had the misfortune to buy one such item recently from mahavircomputers_in1. A Sony Handycam being sold had an "India Warranty" as per the clarification by dealer. However, when the item arrived it did not have any warranty cards. Upon contacting, both eBay and the dealer maintains that the warranty is "one year dealer warranty for labour only". The same B-Sh!t that the imported goods dealer in your city tells.

It is unfortunate that such a reputed brand is colluding with thugs to loot innocent people of their money. That too, it happens through their "assured" PaisaPay channel.

The question is about this deal being even legally valid. How can a new item which the manufacturer guarantees for an year be sold thru channels not approved by the manufacturer? And they charge VAT on it too!

Stay away if you want genuine items with proper warranty. Especially from dealers like mahavircomputers_in1 whose ebay feedback itself(though positive overall) has many concerns about warranty on which eBay doesn’t seem to be taking any action.
