I have a similar saga . I bought a 5 point Spike guard from ebay which should work for both square and round plug. Original t zone 5 way multi purpose surge protection 3 yard long extension BOX"(141326786047) del date: 27th july 2014.
I received the product and am appalled! The product casing has no information about the manufacturer apart from an email address! NO name, address, phone number . Just an email address. No mention of any quality testing ISI etc etc. How do I use such a product for my equipments such as computer, tv etc? What if such a product leads to damage of my much valuable equipments .
My saga doesn’t end here. The product is faulty .It doesn’t work for square plugs(though there is a provision) . the middle point doesn’t work for round plug also
Now my next saga starts. Response from ebay . I send them an email. They call me exactly once for some reason I could not answer the call so they send me an email saying this number is not responsive hence reply to this email within 48hrs else your ticket would be closed with an alternative number and send a proof that your product is not working.I responded but how do I give a ’proof’ that the product is not functioning over the email? They replied with an email saying your ticket is now closed as you did not provide a proof?!
I call ebay to connect to a customer care person. It takes a waiting time of anywhere between 5 to 15 mins! We have to patiently hold on to the phone till a person is free to talk to us! I finally get to speak to a person. She says a person from the "concerned’ department will give you a call . I never got the call.
Appalling product . Appalling service! HORRIBLE experience. I am never going to buy from ebay again .
