I was probably one of the first registered users of http://www.Baazee.com. Registered soon after it opened in May 2000.
I put some CDs on auction soon after I joined, but the auction never took off. That turned me off and I stopped visiting baazee.
Just on a urge, I visited baazee again in November 2003, My ID was still intact and to my surprise I found that Baazee has improved by leaps and bounds.
First they have a new rating system for both buyers and sellers, which helps in identifying genuine users. These ratings are peer to peer ratings, hence are trustworthy.
Second, they now verify all the sellers before they are allowed to put up anything for auction. I would know, I went through the verification process myself.
Third, Customer service is good, All my mails and complaints have been answered promptly and followed up .
I have successfully sold a few items through baazee and my experience so far has been perfect. I have also bought more than 20 products through baazee and have received all of them. The quality of a few of the products was not good but the overall experience has been ok.
I believe the people who get cheated on baazee do not use their common sense. They should compare their current bids with the market price of the product that are bidding on. Sometimes I see bids which have way exceeded the market price. Now can the seller be blamed for this. He has put up an item for sale and will be happy to get the maximum price for it. Its the prerogative of the buyer to check the market price of the product and then make a judicious bid.
Then if a person gets a camera for Rs 200, He/She should not expect a Nikon or Canon. Its taken for granted that the product will be a chinese product. So one should expect the same quality that He/She pays for.
Overall I believe people can get some good deals if they use their common sense, read the reviews given by other people and most importantly have some patience.
