We have launched new Auction Site after got frustrated from EBAY. Following are the reason. We used to be one of the Active Seller on eBay.
Point 1
You might not know but, recently
" eBay India ! " has increased its listing fees to about 800-1200%. (From Rs.
0.25 to Rs. 3.00 - 5.00 per item per week) This is ridiculous.
Whether your products gets sold
or not ! They want their charges. MNC s high profile directors wants their wages
paid anyhow.
Point 2
Their fees on completed sales is
as high as 3% to 5%. So eBay can not be used for Selling lower margined
products.
You all know that in India the
competition is too high. All high priced products have low margin. Though the
profit amount is high but the margin is low. So if you are paying your charges
in % then you can easily understand what you get ? A table below shows the FACT
when you sell on ebay product ranging from 50 to 50, 000.

others sales for past couple of months and discovered following.

Unless your profit margins
are high or you are selling Monopoly items (then you dont need eBay like
sites), above table illustrates the FACT of selling on eBay.
If you are selling in volumes on
eBay like 20 to 30 items a day then you are also paying lots of your money from
your profit as charges, because your items must be low margined & Large
Inventory. So either you are paying lots for Inventory listings fees and making
low margin profit. Just because you dont have option you have stuck to eBay.
Have you ever
thought of what is your actual margin supposed to be ?
You might think
that there should not be problem if you am selling Branded items or Big priced
items then you also must know that such items have very low profit margins. On
the other hand the product which are lower priced in same category do not have
public popularity. So your sales also does not boost up.
You are paying as
much as
52% to 80% of your profit when you sell your product on eBay. If your product
does not get sold at least monthly then you are paying eBay from your pocket for
listing and advertising.
If your product is getting sold
bimonthly then you are not really making any money by listing and selling your
products from eBay.

Those who have large Inventory
and about 20% to 30% of the products in total gets sold from it then they are
not making money instead loosing.eBay charge monthly
subscription fees starts from Rs. 200 for shop i.e. webstore, If you have
Inventory less than 50 items then you are paying too much for shop.The only favorable point for
eBay is that its listing gets priorities in Google Searches..The HomePage Featured /
GalleryPlus / Bold / Box / Highlight /Border / Additional Pictures etc.
listings costs lots more than showed in table. But considering the
frequency of their utilization we have chosen according to percentage of the
amount of product. It is merely impossible to use those feature when your
product is lower margined or have reasonable profit margins.
You would also notice by making
General search on auction and listings on eBay India! that only Jewellery /
Stones / Imitation / Apparel / Chinese items (where product quality can not be
determined)/Stamps/Antique items are left on eBay India, Because many People who were selling
Genuine/Stable/Reasonable/Attractive priced/Bargained/Consumer Durables have
withdrawn their participation from eBay. The reason is simple that they simply
can not afford this fees & charges for the items they are selling.
Does above sound like that eBay
is only left for the people who wants anything for their old products and get
rid of those items or for those who have collectibles. It is not a choice of
Everyday Utility consumer durable Sellers now.
We have written lots to eBay but
none of them have really shown interest. As like other MNCs they are only
interested in their Balance Sheet instead of Consumer interest.
After lots of discussion and
