Ebay.in - Policy before customer satisfaction.

The business model of this e-commerce site is very simple. It is just a listing place for the sellers/vendors to put up their ware and for the buyers to decide from whom to buy of course based on the lowest price with the options. No standards for anything but their policies. Many listings exist for the same product that too with the same price and god only knows what hidden differences exist. There are ratings of all kinds and no one knows the efficacy of these ratings. Any problem with the buying transaction the onus is on the customer to contact and sort out the issue with the seller and if no proper details of the vendor are available raise a complaint to the customer care that too in their own format which does not encompass all the issues.


The customers are told repeatedly that they do not need to worry as they are covered by ebay guarantee but how very helpful this is, it is for the customer to experience  and find out. Amazingly at times even the customer care throws up its hands and says it is unable to contact the seller. The listed items are neither verified or when erroneous one brought to the notice of ebay nor do they remove the listing. In case what has been bought based on the product description is not what has been received it is for the customer to resend it to the seller and on whose confirmation ebay refunds only the amount paid for the product and not the courier charges incurred for returning the product back to the seller. For such issues customers are given time 48hrs deadline to return the disputed product but the company policy for refunds are 10 days or as and when they decide. So all in all they have policies for anything and everything but for customer satisfaction.


Read this carefully and think/confirm with seller rather than ebay if you want to buy anything on ebay for you should not be caught in the web of ebay policies.
