I apologize if it is off topic but I was just looking for a place to speak about the current Baazee CEO arrest case. I find this place at least not irrelevant.

This case concerns sale of illegal obscene entertainment material posted on a website provided by a for profit network service operator, ie, Bazee.com. No doubt that no one should be permitted to breach laws in a democracy. And there are arrests made. But there are many other issues to be discussed.

1) Baazee.com is a network operator who prohibit pornography as far as the terms and conditions goes and everyone who registers there has to go through it. It is not that you have to be made to read it aloud by the NSO. (Baazee has a million users and everyone cant be made to read aloud).

2) Baazee.com terms conditions state that for posting adult related material (obviously within legal bounds), permission of Baazee.com must be taken.

My question is - is it possible for a network operator to scan each and every item for illegal content? The contents may be anything under the label! How do I know if somebody posted illegal material and avoided me?

I have found offensive material on many sites which are always removed by the operators of the website as soon as they are found. But, for example, if I type offensive material here, it will be posted immediately and will stay until it is removed and my account is suspended and I am reported to the authorities. Should the mouthshut.com CEO be arrested for that? This way it is very easy for me to get the mouthshut.com CEO arrested.

There are discussion boards provided by a number of portals running in India. Users are free to post their comments there. And they do it regularly. If someone posts illegal material, is the owner of the portal to be arrested? If someone keeps obscene material on yahoo.com, should the CEO be arrested? If there is unwanted junk in my email, should not I be given a chance to delete it. I did not send it! This way, the internet shops will close down very soon!

I wish to state that I have never used Bazee.com for purchases and I did not even know this was heppening there. I have no opinions about Baazee.com as such.

I will like to receive comments here. Please do not post offensive material.
