Been Selling my goods from the day they launched Baazee.com and Bidorbuy.com (which merge to make one big baazee.com) whihc again got merged/sold to Ebay Inc. and now known as Ebay.in. For sellers that was a good sign as the best known selling portal is now available in India, and customers all over India also delighted thinking world class service will be available in Apun ka India.
Well they offered good service taking care of customer as well as sellers, and the site was kept free for long time (but providing service always comes with cost) so they started charging sellers some fees in the form of service offered, which sellers paid without fail (many defaulted but its no mistake of genuine sellers). I didnt used Ebay.in for last 3 years to make any sale only bought goodies through it. So been collecting lot of goods all this 3 years. Recently decided to sell some of it to get some liquid cash (to buy more junk) and first name came to my mind was EBAY.in. Where else one will find better portal to make sale.
Well the policies of Ebay.in is changed since old times I thought thats ok, well with many fraudulent sellers buyer needed some protection so charging such fees was ok (there is an insertion fees of 1 rs for almost every auction apart from some % charged as seller fees if your product is sold). Well all these charges I guess many sellers are willing to pay (except for those sellers who sell goods for cheap and charge imbalance shipping fees).
Anyhow as I tried to post the auction/ad for product offered I came to this new thing called paisapay (can say copy of paypal.com). I thought well if its like paypal which I am member of its well worth it to become a member of such local version of paypal. Registered with paisapay and was reading paisapay charges which they charge to sellers in order to receive money of whatever they sold on ebay and received payment through paisapay, and found it to be a ripoff for sellers. So I decided not to sue paisapay in my auctions.
Well there is a catch if you are not registered with paisapay then you cannot sell any item of Ebay.in so one has to register with paisapay in order to sell any item on Ebay.in which is not mandatory on Ebay international for paypal. Seller has to pay following fees which is like 2 sided sword, Ebay insertion fees(sellers willing to pay), Ebay fees if auction is successful (differs on items), 10% Service Tax and 3% Cess (Edu: 2% + Sec & High Edu: 1%), as seller cannot announce in there auction that paisapay is not available and buyer makes payment through paisapay then seller has to pay more fees which is 4% + 10% Service Tax and 3% Cess (Edu: 2% + Sec & High Edu: 1%).
So basically Ebay.in is ripping off sellers in general. As sellers cannot sell anything without being registered with paisapay, they charge fees for selling items along with transaction charges with paisapay which is Ebay.in baby. Its more like monopoly as no other website with such high user database is available Ebay.in is charging whatever money they want to charge to sellers who in turn increase there prices to accommodate such high charges and in the end end user or say buyer is the one who end up paying then entire sum.
Any developer listening to this create the simplicity of Bidorbuy.com or Baazee.com and it will surely guarantee to be a success.
Ebay.in if you reading this kindly stop charging such prices and if you really want to make money through paisapay then make it open end like paypal and let other users use it to (million dollar suggestion for free) instead of just Ebay.in users. If not then let them post in the auction that paisapay is not allowed.
