I purchased a brand new sofa in sale in July 2013. I was told that it had no warranty because it was on a huge discount. However, during my numerous inquiries I was convinced and promised by their sales person Mr. Deepak Dogra and Marketing head+customer service head Mr. Jaipreet Singh Bhandari that sofa had no issue and if any issue was found within a few weeks, they will take care of that.
Within 4 days I found:
the cushions are repaired. Feathers keep coming out through these.
The close up of the stitching shows that the original stitching has been removed and the left over threads are still lying there from prior stitching.
Each cushion is numbered except the single seater cushion as shown here for repairing!
A big lump of cotton inside cushion cover but outside the cushion as shown. This makes us believe that whoever did the amateur job of sewing the cushions forgot to put this extra lump of cotton. Or perhaps they provide this complementary!
The same above issues were found with back cushions as well, amateur stitching job!
We found the sofa to be torn on the back side of 2 seater as shown.
We found the sofa cover to be stapled multiple times at 2 different locations at the bottom side of single seater as shown. The cover was supposed to be removable as they were attached with velcro. Now with these staples in place it is impossible to take it off. It seems that the cover was torn at these places and the cover was stapled to take care of that.
The bottom clothes of almost all the sofa is torn at the edges and center.
There is around 2" x 2" stain mark on the inside of the 2 seater sofa. The stain mark is not on the sofa cover but on the sofa itself.
When contacted, they refused to take it back. After numerous emails and phone calls we filed case in consumer forum. We won the case after almost a year and got 10% additional compensation. Meanwhile Deepak and Jaipreet got fired.
Now, they have picked the sofa. But refund of money has been extremely painful. I am yet to get complete refund. Mr. Amit Chugh, Noida Head Office, keeps making promises but does not deliver. According to him Rs.7000/-(left over money) is not a big amount and it will be delivered soon. But this is going on for past 1 and 1/2 months. He keeps extending the deadline making me believe that he has not intention of refunding the money. Well, I will have to file another case perhaps.
Good luck to everyone who want to purchase based on 5 years of warranty offered by Ebony Gautier!
