How to get admission in a College?

My review is about the poor condition of education in Mumbai.

Parents and students are worried after SSC (grade tenth) results. They have this question in the mind. Will my child get admission in a good college? Will he get admission in the college of his choice?

Students are not worried during their exams but worried after their results.

Why are they worried so much? Why is it so difficult to get an admission?

The answer is simple more students and fewer colleges.

What is the system of admissions in colleges?

Admissions in colleges are based on merit i.e. higher the marks higher are the chances of getting admission. But this is the case up to certain extent. The admissions are based largely on quota system.

What is this quota system? Am I talking about the quota system of import export trade? NO I AM NOT

I am talking about the race, religion, language and the background of the student.

There are minority colleges in Mumbai. These colleges are run by the minority community. 50 percent of the seats are reserved for the students belonging to minority community. There are two types of minority colleges, first religious minority colleges and second linguist minority colleges.

If you do not speak Marathi or you are not a Hindu then you belong to Minority community. I want to make it clear here Hindus speaking any other language except Marathi belong to this category. Some of the best colleges in Mumbai are minority colleges.

Then there are reservations for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

There are also reservations for relatives of freedom fighters, army men, government employees, teachers, the management of the institution, sportsmen, etc.

This system is completely WRONG. Admissions should be made only on the basis of Merit.

You can also get admission if you give a huge amount as donation (BRIBE) to the college. For this you require rich parents.

Other Problems

Teaching is one of the lowest paid professions in India. Teachers should be paid high salaries. Coaching Classes and Tuitions have become very popular because they bring higher income for Teachers. If the teachers were paid good salaries this problem would not have arisen. The exploitation of poor students should be stopped.

Free education should be given up to the primary level to all. Government should spend more on education.
