I did not see this movie when if first came out. After I saw some other Tim Burton films I became interested in this , then when I found out the it starred Johnny Depp, I had to get it.
The movie has everything in it, Comedy, romance, some spooky stuff, and a sweet boyish creation that wants to be fully human.
Vincent Price, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Winona Ryder contribute a wonderful Gothic element to this film, that is ironically set in a pastel 1950s looking suburban neighborhood that looks like leave it to beaver and Dr Seuss collided into a bright and lively mix.
The film contains few rowdy teens, silly neighbors, one desperate housewife, and Edward, whose maker died before he could give him real hands.
The movie also makes some great points about accepting people who are different, but also shows how sometimes this can backfire and the innocent can suffer for something he never did.
This is a movie the whole family can get a kick out of, and the kids will fall in love with.
