Making a profile page is very important I think. Because for one, Mouth Shut does require it and for two, we should be willing to let other people know about us.
Now we all know that Mouth Shut has the basic questions. And some of us fill all of them out and some of us fill just certain parts out. I choose to fill out certain parts.
On the Public Profile page, that’s the page you all will see you find the basic questions of: (I will use my own information here.)

Next you will find an area called “Interest” and here you should put what really interests you in life. Under my interest you would find things that I like and dislike. As you would with most people. However, there are some people who will not fill this part out. I am not sure as to why. But I really think that they should. It is really interesting to read about people’s interest, their thoughts or concerns, etc.
Then you will find a section called “About Me”, where you would read about me! Here I put a little bit more personal stuff about me or my family or things that I really like to do. For instance, if you read my profile page you would see that I truly love the Lord and I truly love to fish. I truly love my husband and children and several other things. There is not enough space to tell all about me. But hey, some things are left better un-said…Lol.
Of course you set all of this up under “Edit Profile” where you are taken to a page to do just that! Here you would start your task of informing the world what you wanted them to know about you. And you should be honest with us all as well as yourself. Of course if you are some harden criminal then we don’t need to know. Or if you do drugs it is not necessary to say that either.
I highly suggest that you put things that are interesting and not provocative or destructive or offensive in any way. We don’t need to know if you drink or how many times you may get layed each night. We need to know WHO YOU ARE on the inside and not what you think you are on the outside.
You can tell us your favorite book or favorite saying. Your favorite Bible Verse or your education. You can tell us if you like to knit and why? How about if you play sports, your kids, your family. Do you like to cook? Do you like to shop? And if so why? Tell us about you on the inside!
You can choose on the edit page what you want to show and what you don’t want to show. For instance above is what I chose to show. I didn’t want my address, city, phone or last name posted. Not because I have anything to hide but because it’s no one’s business. And besides there are crazy people out there. So I would advise all to not post these things on your profile page. You can’t trust people much now a days and it’s best to be careful.
You should also type your information in lower case letters with proper capitalization and punctuation. Please DO NOT TYPE IN CAPS. IT HURTS THE EYES AND IS VERY HARD TO READ. GET THE PICTURE!!! You should be brief but precise, be honest and not long winded. However there are some who have a lot to say about themselves so put it down, I would be interested in reading even if no one else would be.
Give this some thought, put your heart and honesty into it. Don’t mislead us because it is not fair to yourself or us.
Now let’s talk about your picture for a bit. It is very important to have a nice looking picture of yourself only on your profile page. Mouth Shut requires this as well. If you ever want a chance at being a Star Writer this is one of the requirements.
So when you choose a picture choose a good one of you and not someone else. If you are not Brad Pitts or Brittany Spears, then don’t put their picture here. If you are not a cartoon character then don’t put one there. This is a place for a picture of yourself. Now some have used pictures of their children and I suppose this if fine. But there again I think that it is too dangerous so I will not put my children or grandson for the world to see if I can help it. Remember there are crazies out there in this world and I personally will not give them ammunition to build on. But if you want to put your child/children/grandchildren then that is your choice and you should do what you feel safe in doing. But please choose a good picture that is clear so we can all enjoy it.
I see a lot of cartoon characters as pictures for the member. I don’t really care for this because it is not you. Why don’t you consider putting a picture of you there instead? I would really love to see what you really look like. Remember being honest with us and the site is a good thing.
Uploading a picture is very easy. Mouth Shut will do it for you if you need them to. You can mail your choice to them. But if you have a picture that you can upload then go to “Upload Picture” and a screen will pop up with instructions that will lead you through the process. Very easy. If I can do it, anyone can.
Now that you are through we can all find out something interesting about you? This is only fair that you share this honest information with us. We are all in the same boat here on the site and we all do one thing in common. Write reviews to help the consumer and the site.
When you go to my profile page you will see me, a little personal info right beside my picture and then my interest and a little about me. I am not a very interesting person but I am me and very proud of me. I am a Southern Bell born and raised in the state of Georgia in the USA and now live in Florida.
I could tell you that I use to show hogs and cows in show when I was a teenager and I could tell you that I use to work in tobacco fields, cornfields and on a farm. But I didn’t want to bore anyone.
I could have also told you that I use to beat my brother black and blue that is until he busted my nose! Then I new he was getting to big for me to beat up on any more. So I learned to leave him alone. But I won’t tell you that either.
I could also tell you that when I was a little girl many, many moons ago I chased after the rainbow with my brother and shovels in tow to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But I won’t tell you that either.
The point is, tell us something about you! Something interesting and something that will make us smile or laugh. Make your profile page attractive to the world, because the world is looking.
Just as a reminder: you will also find out who trusts you and who don’t on your profile page. Along with your likes and dislike on the site. You can also look at your reviews, check your email alerts or site filters, trusted circle or change your password. You can check out the site resources like Community Center, Take a Tour, Mouth Invite, or Mouth Pad. All very important things in helping us be successful as well as Mouth Shut being successful.
Just remember that your profile page is what we all see, like I have stated several times thus far. And remember to be interesting and honest and fair. Don’t bash anyone or any thing, this is not the place for it! That is why you write a review to let us know your experience with the product or company. If you want to recognize someone on your profile page then do so.
And remember NO CAPS PLEASE!!!
