As a migraine suffer for years and after being told by a Coleman in the Navy that they were all in my head, FINALLY someone has made a headache medicine that actually delivers! You know the headaches that are like the sinus headaches where you just want it totally quiet, dark and the’no one talk to me for three days’ headache?
I got a sample in the mail and just put it in the kitchen drawer. You know the routine right? Kids screaming door bell ringing and just got the mail. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you the phone was ringing too! Ok and my head was about to burst open! This was much more than a Calgon’take me away’ moment.
I snatched the package of Migraine Excedrin and very quickly opened it, took both of them with a glass of sweet tea and just took a deep breath. I figured if this did not do something it was going to be a long afternoon. Well to my surprise in about 25 minutes my headache began to ease up. After an hour it was totally gone. Unreal! Ok I had to buy more of this’headache stuff’ as the kids call it.
I like the fact that the caplets are coated. That way it does not leave that nasty taste in your mouth or throat as they go down. Once it hits my stomach the pill is on its’ on if you know what I mean!
The ingredients are simply.
Acetaminophen, 250 mg per caplet.
Aspirin 250 mg(so if you are allergic to aspirin stay away!)
Caffeine 65 mg Now I know caffeine is in some prescription medications I have been given by my doctor for my migraines. Makes me wonder if I have actually been buying this medicine in prescription from. It sure cost more in prescription form if it was this medicine.
Now I bought the big bottle that has 175 coated caplets. I found that for my money the value was in the bigger size. I saved a small Tylenol bottle and put some in it to go in my purse. They have been a lifesaver at times in my purse!
Now in case you did not know aspirin is associated with Reye’s syndrome. Please do not give this medicine to children under 12. The box also says not to give it to teens for chicken pox, flu symptoms before you talk to your doctor.
Now there is also an allergy alert about people being allergic to aspirin. Now they also tell you not to use this if you have any allergic reactions to any other pain or fever medications as well. Of course they tell you that if you have a reaction to call your doctor and immediately stop taking the medicine. Now if you are pregnant, please do not take this until you talk to your doctor. I cannot tell you how many medicines I could not take while I was pregnant. It was unreal.
The directions are fairly simply. Take 2 caplets with a full glass of water. I asked my doctor why they tell you this and he said to be sure the medicine goes all the way down into your stomach and does not get caught in your esophagus. Now my doctor also told me that after you take any form of pills or caplets that you should not lay down for about 20 minutes. Now being the curious person I am I asked’Why?” He said that gives the medicine time to dissolve in your stomach and for the lining of your stomach to begin to absorb the medicine evenly. He said if you lay down it all goes to the back of your stomach which will be closer to the flap over your esophagus and could cause you stomach irritation. Uh huh, ok works for me!
Over all this medicine does deliver. I have had days of piercing headaches and it has worked.
