I started out here when it used to be called onelist, then merged with eGroups and now has merged with Yahoo. It has vastly improved, the features make it easy to use and navigate. The messages posted are quickly sent in a couple minutes appear on the site. The settings are easy to change and update and the nice thing is now pictures can be put up on your group page. You do need a yahoo id if you’re a group owner but to join that’s not necessary, all you need is a valid email address.
