Eight legged Freaks a film - by new director Ellory Elkayem, has the feel of an early 60s B grade black and white horror flick, but with improved special effects. The acting is nothing exceptional.
As it is the movie takes hajaar time to get to the point. A toxic chemical spill affects hundreds of little creepy-crawlies which mutate into strong and uglier giant versions of themselves, bloodthirsty and vicious, arachnids bigger than cars, who over-run a rural mining town.
So now its up to a mining engineer Chris McCormack (Arquette), a sheriff Sam Parker (Wuhrer) and her son Mike (Terra) to fight against a sea of spiders and raise the alarm in the town. Will they stop the eight-legged man-eaters in their tracks? The end is quite obvious.
The problem with Eight Legged Freaks is that it takes more than half the movie to take off. A lot of time is spent in needless exposition, a superficial romance, and gold mine dreams, so much so that you want to scream, something please kill somebody!
Performance-wise nothing special but the Spiders, they take it all (keep you interested in the movie ATLEAST)and are not really scarry its like a bunch of townies playing video game.
IN THE END IF YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE WATCH IT WITH YOUR ENEMY.
