This story about a con man and his haseena sure manages to con the poor viewer from the word go.
Small background about WHAT made ME watch this flick : I moved to dubai about 4 months back and this city gets only the commercial potboilers. As a lover of big screen entertainment I religiously watch all the films which get released. I have trained my mind not to go with any pre conceived notions and cheerfully give everyfilm ( eg: Shaadi no 1, Pyar mein twist, JAMES etc...etc) a fair chance to entertain me.
AFSOS thats what I felt after I saw the last frame of this film. Its unfortunate , even though bollywood has been recently coming up with so called thrillers eg: Fida, Chocolate etc..etc.. none of them are able or even reach the levels of the hollywood movies they gain inspiration from.
EKEH meets the same fate. A potentially good story narrated in the most illogical manner. The sad part is that these films produced by professional set ups like Pritish Nandy Comm treat the viewers intelligence with contempt and expect them to take whatever nonsense is thrown at them.
The con pulled out lack the punch to make the viewer feel that it was a smart act. Eg: The manner in which the Khiladi and his pal posing as RBI officials con a bank manager to allow them to con a customer who withdraws a lot of cash everyday, conning of a gullible lady makin her believe shes won a lottery, Loan disbursement of Rs. 25 cr taking place thru online fund transfer to overseas bank, carrying Rs.25 cr as hand baggage in an international flight
Technically the film is not too bad, as for the performances Fardeen does a good job as a suave con man, Koena Mitra is her sultry self and does well to look taut and sexy through the film, Kay Kay is superb doing the role of a professional assisin with a genuine sense of humour , gulshan grover and feroz khan come across as menacing... of the rest.. mukul dev and the other guy do well in their supporting roles. The music, except of a number of two is hardly hummable. The pace of the film could have been crisper. The love scene is sizzling and the chemistry between the lead stars is palpable.
All in all, If asked for an opinion by a friend, I would not recommend this film to be watched on big screen. It can rate as a time pass DVD film, when one has nothing else to do.
Thats all for now.. till next time...
cheerio!!
