Romantic comedies in India have either thrived in cliches, have been shameless rip offs or have ceased to be comedies post intermission.Of late, there have been a few surprises in this genre namely pyar ka puchnama( if we can call it romantic:P) I went to see EMET with no expectation at all.The 1st 20 mins of the movie didnt impress me much. I still waited. Then came a turn in the plot where I knew that the rest of the movie would be a shameless rip off of "What happened in Vegas".
And this is where I was in for a surprise. The chemistry between the two protagonists was completely missing and that added to the fun as I could easily relate to the awkward conversations and the growing bond between them. The situational comedy is brilliant( surprisingly again as the kind of popular comedy is the loud and nonsensical one.) I found myself guffawing at Imrans awkward date, his first introduction to Kareenas family and his final outburst at the dinner table.
All in all, a TIMEPASS film with a tiny plot, few good laughs, credible performances( Imran, Kareenas dad, mom and Granny) and little to remember.Go for it if you can go without expecting anything from this 1.
PS- the 3 stars are just for the few good laughs and a few situational comedies.
