The bond of Love

Hi again! - Just though I might interest or even bore you about my op on ’’Ek Rishtaa’’ - and you’ve guessed it, it’s a Bollywood film!

Quick facts!

-Producer – Suneel Darshan

-Director – Suneel Darshan

-Music – Nadeem – Shvavar

-Lyrics – Sameer

When my cousin, said to me that “Ek Rishtaa” is a wicked film to watch, I thought excellent, I’ll give it a go! – When I heard the songs from the film, I was even more determined to watch it! I bought the film, and 3 hours later finished watching it! – I thought to myself, what a waste of money! – I should just have bought the sound track!

My op, is going to tell you the plot of the story, and why it didn’t impress me!

At the beginning of the film we see Vijay Kapoor (Amitabh Bachchan) in bed and his wife Pratima (Raakhee) treating his needs. Then all of a sudden we hear the piano, being played by their daughter. We are sent back into the past, and we see a MASSIVE house! There inside, a religious ceremony takes place, and of course, a song is played!

As in most Bollywood films, there has to be entrepreneur. Vijay owns his own successful business. At a business conference, Vijay meets a young man called Rajesh (Mohnish Bahl). Rajesh has an eye for work for Vijay. He pesters Vijay to look at his CV. Vijay agrees, and while both are in the office, Vijay daughter rings! – She’s stuck on a crossword! (Yeah, like everybody rings up somebody when they are stuck on a cross word!!!!) Anyway, Rajesh seems to be a bit of a bright spark, and Vijay sends him to help his daughter Priti (Juhi Charla). And I bet you already guessed it . . . . They fall in love!

Ajay (Akshay Kumar) is Vijay’s only son, and with news of his sister’s wedding comes back from abroad where he was studying I.T)

Priti and Rajesh get married, and they all live happily ever after, or do they?

Well no actually! While at the wedding Ajay meets a young lady called Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) and they both have fallen in love! Awww!

Ajay tells his father, that he wants to start up a new business, but his father tells him to work in the family business to gain some experience, and then later on he could move onto forming his own business!

At first things go well, but the fact the Ajay has different ideas from his father doesn’t help! Arguments start to occur, and things don’t help when Ajay’s evil brother-in law starts stirring things up!

Ajay’s brother-in law, isn’t interested in Priti, he’s only interested in destroying the family, and their business! (Naughty naughty!)

Ajay is thrown out of his house. And when Nisha’s family find out about her little love affair, she too is thrown out of her house! – With nothing with them, then go and get married! – Nisha wears a £200 - £300 Indian costume! (OK they have been chucked out of their house, but they can afford lovely Indian dresses? – weird!)

Any way, they get married, and there’s only one thing on both of their minds! – I won’t spell it out. The song “Ek Dil Hai” beings to play (and what a song it is!)

And while the song plays we see them doing what married couples do (but only for a few seconds!)

Things go well for them, Nisha is pregnant, and everything seems fine! – But it isn’t. Ajay has found out about Rajesh, and so has Priti, but she isn’t going to leave her husband! (Ok – your husband doesn’t love you, never have, and never will, and you still stay with him. I think I need I little explanation in marriage!)

The rest of the film is about Ajay and Nisha returning to his father’s home, and they live happily ever after. And if you did want to know, somebody finally put some sense into Priti and she left Rajesh! (YEAH!!)

Cast:

-Amitabh Bachchan – what a fantastic performance even though the film was a bit rubbish!

-Raakhee – this was the first time I have seen her in a film, and I had to admit, her acting is tiptop!

-Akshay Kumar – an excellent performance from a talented actor!

-Karisma Kapoor – Even though not a main character she played Nisha extremely well!

Songs:

-Every single song was EXCELLENT in this film, below are 2 of my favourite ones!

-Mohabbat Ne Mohabbat Ko – here Akshay and Karisma are dancing on a mountain, and the song is VERY catchy!

-Ek Dil Hai – this is the bedroom scene!! – Excellent song again!

Price

-VHS - £10.00

-DVD - £22.00

-CD’s - £8.00

Duration – about 3 hours

My personals op:

The beginning of the film was ok, with all the EXCELLENT songs, but then it got extremely boring and not a good film to watch! – Ek Rishtaa is a film for those people who can stand watching people go on about boring things! – Some people may actually enjoy the film, but I didn’t! : (
