Tiger, Tiger, everywhere, but not this one for me

Take a ride of the world in Rs. 200 or so, ask me How? Watch Ek Tha Tiger. Have you ever been to Cuba? Did you know anything about Dublin? If you aren’t willing to haggle with your travel agent, buy the movie tickets and enjoy the serene beauty. But, if the intention is to see a movie that could appeal your nerves, you are in a wrong place.

I could finish the story line in two lines, nah one. Salman, a spy falls for Katrina who is also a spy from our neighbouring country. As they couldn’t divulge information to either side, they decide to be on the run through their lifetime.

Keep your grey cells intact, relax, make no judgement, keep your analytical bent at home, let them take a break. For some scenes for instance, train ramming into people and Salman trying to stop it with his blazer, please applaud Versace, he did a decent job of designing it for our hero. In case, you get stuck in an unprecedented scenario like this and means are meagre to save yourself, take refuge under an ARMANI OR a VERSACE, they are life saviours.

Some parts of the movie are very “irresistible”, sample these, Salman and Katrina are caught on camera after a brawl, they are seen enjoying a boxing match event the next day blissfully erasing their memory of the fight and killing. On realizing that they are being watched, they start running to save their lives. So again, both of them were agents, trained to keep your brains open at all times. In another, Salman gets inside the aircraft by jumping off a motorcycle, while Katrina is on the driver’s seat. Why dint you just get inside the aircraft at the first place, move it a little faster and get away from all the chaos. Logic! Keep it under the pillow and you can “enjoy” the flick.

The depiction of a spy in the movie was “prodigious”, Salman hammers half a dozen rogues in front of the entire city but is comfortably carried to UN meetings. He keeps killing people in the day light but still given assignments for securing secret information for our country.  In the true sense, it mocked the agents rather than presenting them as heroes, who die for our country each day.

Ek Tha Tiger, is a concoction of Spider Man (except that no one has anything on their wrists), Bond movies and some masala Hindi movies. Salman is at his best, beating and shooting, Katrina is seen fooling Salman in the movie, Girish Karnad is too tired to act after Malgudi Days. Roshan Seth is completely wasted; he is restricted to a few scenes and exists with no remembrance of the character whatsoever.

Overall, I wouldn’t watch the movie again even if anyone pays for my tickets.
