Never ever join

I am highlighting the issues faced by employees in this company:

1> A lot of people are leaving Eka within a year or so. The reason is not that market is picking up, but because they were promised something else during interview which they couldn’t get. Also, the salaries are not matching market rates. And moreover, some employees have been so much ‘tortured’ by the people they were reporting to that it left a very bad impression on others.

2> There have been times when the Managers have said certain ’Unprofessional’ statements to their employees when the latter resigned like ‘You might have to face difficulties in moving out of Eka’. I don’t know why some senior people over there can’t behave properly with people who are leaving. This creates frustration for the employee and it spreads to others through word-of-mouth. One fails to understand why such a behavior with somebody who wishes to move-on and that too in accordance with company policies?

3>  If one requests for Salary increase, the reply is that ‘It can only be done in April during Annual Appraisal cycle’. Ok. But when a person puts-in his/her resignation, he/she is said that we can give you a raise now. Point is If it can be given after resignation, then why can’t the company be proactive and give it to people who deserve it much earlier?

4>     Most of the people I know of have been moved from Project to Project very frequently. With this, they are not able to get a good grasp of whatever they are doing. This is also having a very bad impact on them.

5>  A colleague of mine who left in 2009 was so much tortured that he was forced to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Why such a behavior with a human being who has been loyal to this company during his stay?

6> Company has been facing serious resource crunch. And the result is Client complaints in Quality of work. They don’t have enough people and if a couple of them leave, others obviously get frustrated while sharing their burden.

7>  I got to know of somebody who joined in the later half of 2009 that she had been told about Eka giving a minimum hike of 20% (with a half-yearly revision) during appraisal. But when she joined, she got to know from others that 20% hike hardly happens and the half-yearly revision has not happened since some time. So she is already thinking of moving out now.

There might be certain other issues also which I have not come across or have missed out. All in all, don’t spoil your career with this company!
