We have been using the Electra Chimney SS60 for nearly 18 months now. Totally hassle free, no maintenance, unlike conventional chimneys, that are essentially sieves. Whatever brand (Faber, Glenn, Sunflame) work on the common principle of pushing oily smoke through a sieve (filter) that catches the heavy oil particles and lets the smoke through. What this essentially means, that you need to keep cleaning the filter once a month essentially with kerosene/detergent, else your chimney clogs up.
That means nagging your spouse once a couple of months to get his hands dirty. Not any more. The Electra essentially uses centrifugal force to push oil into plastic petri-dishes, thus requiring no/low maintenance, since there are no filters to clean. We havent cleaned ours for 18 mnths of heavy usage, and still face no penalty whatsoever. Secondly, they employ an induction motor (like those in ceiling fans), so you could use for over 24hrs without worry. Faber etc. you need to shut after every 3 hrs. Thirdly, the motor is completely covered, hence the lamination of the winding lasts longer.
In Faber, the motor is exposed to the smoke (unless in re-cycle mode). And lastly, they have a high air moving capacity. Generally, you have a 7% loss per bend in the duct. Hence Faber doesnt recommend more than 4 bends. We have 5 in our duct, and still no performance issue. We have been using SS60, and I can say, we are totally happy with the performance. The only cons: Dont put your hand into the suction. There isnt a fine mesh to prevent your fingers from getting nicked. I talked to them, and they said covering with a fine mesh causes the clogging effect they wish to avoid! Anyways, no sensible person would put his hand inside (but, then again, I did!: ) ).Added this information as it has been requested:

Updating the review, since I read in one of the comments for it. The chimney is still going strong, and I havent had a chance to clean it yet since I installed it in Nov 2005 (thats 4 years).

Updating the review: The chimney is still going on fine! Cleaned it from the outside (mainly for aesthetics). Not yet from the inside.
