I have purchased Electrolux 1 ton split Air conditioner for Rs.16000/- from M/s. Uttam Electronics, Nasik on 18th May 2009 considering that the Electrolux is known as one of the pioneer companies manufacturing consumer durables and house hold machines. The installation of the AC was taken up next day. However during the installation it was observed that there was some defect in the AC. Accordingly I was told that machine would be taken to workshop for rectification of the defect. In fact I asked for a fresh machine but was told that the dealer did not have other piece but I was assured that there was a minor defect which could be very well rectified and the machine would be perfect. But the repairs took 10 days and the machine was installed on 29th May 2009.
On inquiry, I was told that there has been small leakage in the machine with the result the gas had leaked. The machine was started, however it was shut down after using it for 15 to 20 days as in the mean time rains had started. The necessity of the AC is normally felt hardly for 2 months as climate of Nasik is considered quite cool during the year except from April to mid June.
Again the AC was started in April next year and it was surprising that there was no cooling in the AC, accordingly I took up the matter with M/s. Uttam Electrons who got the AC repaired from the companys service centre. In fact the gas had leaked once again and I was assured that the machine was in perfect conditioned. As usual after another one and half month the machine was shut down.
Once again when the machine started in April 2011 there has been cooling effect. This time I took up the matter with the company and they directed my complaint to their Nasik Service Centre who demanded Rs.2, 500/- toward gas filling charges as the same had leaked again. But I resisted to make the payment and involved companys executive Shri Pramod from their Aurangabad office. However he requested to pay Rs.1, 600/- being the cost of the gas. Taking into his assuarances I paid the amount on 15th May 2011 and the machine was started but it stopped working within one month. When I reported the matter to the service centre they shamelessly started avoiding me on one pretex or the other and the entire summer passed and ultimately on involvement of Shri Pramod and Uttam Electronics the machine was taken to workshop and was certified O.K. only in the month of October 2011.
Again this year the machine was started in February as some guests from Mumbai had come to my house and and I was taken to surprise to see that the machine had again stopped cooling. As usual matter was taken up with the company and M/s. Uttam Electronics, they by this time took serious note and took the machine to workshop for thorough checkup and the gas was again filled up and the machine was put to use on 27th February 2012 . But again I was charged Rs.2, 000/- with guarantee that the gas would not leak again and if repeated they would replace the machine. However, the assurance was short lived and the gas leaked within 15 days and I asked for the replacement as promised.
The matter was discussed in detail in the premises of M/s. Uttam Electronics between them and the local service centre and the companys representative Shri Jitendra Chowdhary and finally they felt that the machine had defect which could not be rectified and they were prepared to give a credit note of Rs.8, 000/- while replacing the machin taking into the account the deprciation. I do not understand how the company has foolishly taken this stand as the the machine has been under repairs constantly and I have been deprived of the comfort in last 4 summers for which I have spent Rs.20, 000/- and also spent a lot on telephone calls in following up my case with the dealer, service centre, companys Aurangabad and Pune offices, Shri Pramod and Shri Jitendra Choudhary which has caused me physical inconvenience and mental tention at this age as I am senior citizen of 72 years. I am, therefore pained to say that I had mistaken to buy the machine only taking into consideration companys international reputation. I am also pained by the errant behavior of the service centre and the officials of the company. The machine is out of use even today without being attended. I hope good council will prevail upon them and replace the machine without any further loss of time. Ive already sent all the parties involved in this case a legal notice to which there has not been any reply. I plan to take further legal action against Electrolux within one week of writing this review.
