I am an owner of Electrolux refrigerator, since 25, 03, 08. I am really frustrated with the performance of the product as well as the disgusting service provided by Videocon, who are the licensed manufacturer of Electrolux and many other brands like Kelvinator, Kenstar etc. Actually Videocon is a very cheap, Indian brand who is not interested in producing good quality products; rather they hunt for some big brands like Electrolux etc to fool people.
We as consumers know that Electrolux used to supply compressor for Kelvinator refrigerator earlier. Videocon somehow became the licensed manufacturer of Electrolux as well as Kelvinator brand and they print this information in a lower left corner of an advertisement, especially in newspaper. I was very fond of Electrolux, as they produced high quality products, especially the compressor were very reliable. I feel cheated because of the quality of the product, as my refrigerator stop working just when it was one year old.
The compressors are faulty, the overload protector and the relay are of very poor quality. The service partners charged me around Rs. 1800 to replace the compressor, although company claims 5 year warranty on compressor. They said that the compressor is replaced free of cost but I need to bear the transportation cost(to and from service centre), Gas refilling cost, rubber washer for compressor, filter, OLP plus relay etc. even though it was not my fault. The compressor, OLP and relay were faulty and so it needs replacement, then why should I be charged for the same?
Now I have to call the franchisee on a daily basis to remind them that the refrigetor needs replacement of the compressor. They have started saying that compressor is not available nad they would replace it with a Videocon compressor. I would like to warn every consumer, especially Mouthshut members about these brands: ELECTROLUX, KELVINATOR, KENSTAR Please make sure that you have enough money and time to spend on these products be it washing machines, Air Conditioner, Micro wave oven or room coolers. Videocon is famous for this kind of fraudulent and unethical business practice of producing poor quality of products as well as pathetic service support. Videocon’s managing body knows the fact that it cannot run the business on it’s own parent brand name VIDEOCON, so they chose to abuse these brands, just to keep the capital rolling and earn profit. Please be cautious whenever you or your near and dear ones decide to buy a product of the above mentioned brands.
