I bought this stupid washing machine on Feb 2003. The main reason for buying this was
1) 6.0 kg machine for a lower cost.
2) Kelvinator / Electrolux brand name.
3) New stylish model
A) The day this product was installed I noticed that the lid was full of scratches. I did not sign the installation report I guess that was the reason Kelvinator / Electrolux service engineer replaced it within 2 days.
B) Within 3 months drain motor failed - I was told by Kelvinator / Electrolux service engineer that the my washing machine was part of an elite group that had defective drain motor.
C) After the Drain motor incident - Main drum was not spinning. Main control pcb failed. This time Kelvinator / Electrolux service engineer said the problem was due to water seepage in the main pcb. PCB was replaced. The beauty was the service engineer had the main pcb like spare as if he knew that pcb would fail without fail.
D) After replacement of Main PCB. my Electrolux Washy Talky washing machine started giving mild shock. This mild shock was attributed to water in washing machine !!!! by Kelvinator / Electrolux service engineer.
E) Within 18 months main PCB was replaced thrice.
F) At this time I enquired about annual service contract (AMC’s). The smart alec Kelvinator / Electrolux stopped providing AMC’s.
G) Almost at the end of my warranty period Water inlet relay failed.
H) Now after 30 months my Kelvinator / Electrolux washing maching is not working. Main PCB is gone once again. The cost of this pcb is almost 30% of the machine cost. Kelvinator / Electrolux says I have to purchase at my own risk.
Recently I opened removed the PCB unit from the machine, I noticed that there is a huge cut out that will allow water to wet the PCB when the machine is working.
At present I am thinking of what to do next with this stupid Kelvinator / Electrolux washing machine. One thought I have in my mind is spend an other Rs. 100/- and 5 hours of my time designing a good timer circuit to run this stupid washing machine as a non automatic machine. If I am sucessful I am lucky to save few thousand rupees.
