For any of those Planning to buy an Electric Chimney and trying to figure out the right brand - please beware of ELICA which claims to be the world’s leader in Chimneys ! Think twice so that you dont face the same issues as we have .
Our Elica Chimney - Model Linear LTW 60 was purchased in Aug 2013 and fitted on Sept 2012 . Both my husband and I travel a lot in our respective jobs hence the the usage of the chimney is minimal.
In Aug 2013 the Warranty expired and conveniently the Chimney stopped working in Sept 2013 . When the Elica Technician came over he informed the PCB is spoiled hence needs to be replaced and which costs a quarter of the cost of the Chimney ! The PCB is a Core component of the Chimney - since the Warranty is over I would have to pay for this - How convenient for Elica of course !
I got in touch with Elica Customer Support head - informing that as its obviously a defective piece I would like it to be replaced which he refused . He informed that possibly the PCB could have been spoiled due to power fluctuations / outage etc etc - which I informed is not possible as we live in Mumbai where we don’t have any such issues and on top of it- if there was such an issue would it not affect our other appliances ?
I requested that the part replacement be done free of cost - given that such a core part should not have got spoiled in a years time - hence wheres the possibility of this chimney lasting a lifetime if it gets spoiled in 1 year time ? Obviously he had no answer and gave a small reduction on the cost of replacement
*This is therefore is the state of the so called Italian Elica Chimney !
