I had the misfortune of coming by this horrible airlines from UK to India. Their website claims "Emirates has one of the world’s most generous baggage policies. Economy Class customers can check in 30 kg". If this is generous then what would these fools call the 46 kgs allowed by British airways (BA) and Air India?
I went to UK by BA and I got an allowance of 46 kgs and my friend who came to India by AI also got 46 kgs. The best part is that nowhere on the website do the mention about the laptop bag being counted as a cabin baggage.
So if you have a laptop bag which weighs only 2 kgs, that is your cabin baggage and the remaining is your loss. Every other airline allows one cabin baggage and 1 laptop bag. The best part is that you get to know about this only once you reach the airport when they have a board which displays a message saying the laptop bag is a cabin baggage.
All that the website says is " Economy Class passengers are permitted one (1) piece of carry-on baggage, subject to the following size and weight limitations:
Handbag: 55 cm x 38 cm x 20 cm (22” x 15” x 8”) Weight must not exceed 7 kg (15 lb). Duty free purchases of liquor, cigarettes and perfume in reasonable quantities are also permitted in addition to the above." but no mention of the laptop bag being counted as a cabin bag.
The extra luggage has to be paid for and the price at the airport is very high. This seems to be their way of earning quick bucks.
Next when I reached Dubai no one knew which terminal the connecting flight to India would be. Dubai is a pretty big airport and we were being directed from one terminal to another for the next flight. We almost went to 3-4 terminals which were very far from each other.
You do not expect this from an airlines of the such a high caliber and definitely are the least interested to run around at 2 A.M.-3 A.M. in the morning.
I would not recommend this airways to anyone ever and warn anyone travelling by this airways to confirm about the baggage stuff so that you dont end up spending your entire holiday budget on buying the extra baggage allowance you would require to take your already packed luggage along.
