I have travelled four times on Emirates so far (two round trips) Mum-Frankfurt-DXB-Mum and Mum-Lon-DXB-Mum. Both the experiences were really nice. I have found the Emirates staff to be mostly courteous and friendly. However, I have usually noticed that they tend to be a bit hassled on the return flights to Mumbai, but that could be because the passengers are more demanding and cranky!
On the DXB-LON flight, I (and the young man sitting next to me) were asked if we would exchange seats with a couple who wanted to watch TV, but apparently their monitors were not working. As we just wanted to sleep, we agreed and exchanged with this Italian couple, settled down in our new seats and tried to sleep. A little later, one of the crew gently wakes us and offers us Champagne for agreeing to shift without a fuss!! We declined the champagne and went back to sleep, thinking that this was the end of it.
Just before landing, the crew gave the two of us a first class goody bag for being such nice passengers!!! And all this for just shifting seats with a smile! I was so delighted that I wrote a thank you note and handed it to the crew for making my day. The attitude of superior customer service stays throughout most flights and I hope they live up to their excellent standards.
The crew is multi-lingual, usually polite and helpful. The fares, especially off season are lower than other airlines and if you know a good travel agent like TCI in Mumbai, you can get a great deal. The food is quite nice - I had requested for a veg meal on all my flights and the food was hot, cooked and quite filling.
