Fly EK

I had the pleasure on flying with EK quite recently and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, I hear people banging on how the seat pitch is too small in economy, on the Boeing 777-300ER and 777-300 which I went on the seat pitch was 34" now that is very big for economy considering other big airlines like BA, Virgin, KLM have 31-32".

Leg 1 - London Gatwick - Dubai (connection) - July 7th - I flew on the 10:00am flight which was an Airbus A330-200, a little delay in departure which wasn’t emirates fault, we departed at around 10:25am though the seat pitch on this was only 32" it was decent enough.

I was slightly disappointed with this flight as there were too many children on board, there was this one child who was screaming for 4 of the 7 or so hours of the flight duration, the FA’s were very polite and chatty to passengers the food was ok on this leg of the journey, I had another disappointment with this flight as it didn’t have ICE just the TV and Radio which is not that good because tv shows are shown at set times..

Leg 2 - Dubai - Incheon(Seoul) - July 8th - Now I didn’t want to bore you with my 7 hour wait at dubai airport but I will sum it up in one word "OVERRATED".. now back to the airline :).

This flight was at 3:00am it was full of lovely people and this plane was a 777-300ER now with 34" I didn’t want to complain, and it had ICE which would have brilliant if it hadn’t gone to sleep for 6 half hours of the 9 hour flight, so I only managed to watch one movie and a few tv shows, I did enjoy what I saw though and the food was delicious even though I had chinese noodles and someother thing also had a popular korean dish called "Kimchi" which did confuse me since it came with chinese food. Also made friends with the 2 korean girls sat next to me, they helped me learn korean a little bit which was very nice.. again from what I saw the FA’s were polite and answered every request, well of the people around my area atleast..

Return journey.

Leg 1 - Incheon(Seoul) - Dubai - August 15th - Flight departed at 11:00pm being a night flight and all on the 777-300ER I was very tired and the flight was for 9 hours, they started to give out the meals, after around 25/30 minutes and of course as I was so tired I fell asleep midway through my meal, and I woke up a few hours later so this time I had the chance to be awake for alot longer on this beautiful plane, I did watch 2 movies Iron Man and Jumper also few tv shows like how I met your mother, family guy and the simpsons.. arrived back in dubai at approx. 5:15am

Leg 2 - Dubai - London Gatwick - August 16th - Flight took off around 8:30am on a 777-300, and I actually found this plane to be more spacious than the ER version but its probably because it wasn’t full and I had the 3 window seats to myself so I was sleeping very comfortably on this journey even when I weren’t sleeping I was just laying there, but one lucky guy had the 4 seats in the middle row too himself.. and Im not sure what exactly I had for dinner but it was delicious.. It was like some sort of chicken korma type thing with rice  I even asked for more but they said they ran out of it :(  I had a tear in my eye on our decent into Gatwick, because not only was I going into an airport where everyone sounded like they were on an episode of eastenders also I was going home which made me sad as I left my girlfriend in korea (I know what you’re thinking, and no I didnt leave her there by accident, she just lives and works there :). )

All in all it was an excillent experience I will fly with them again just not yet, Im going back to south korea in october, this time with Finnair, (they have cheaper fare hehe)

I really do recommend EK to anyone, and I already have with my manager at work, who has since booked with them to fly to Maldives.
