I just did one Chennai - Dubai - Shanghai flight with them and my experience so far has been good overall with some exceptions. I travel with my wife and baby who is not even 1 year old. Travelling with babies can be very tiring and I have my share of experiences to share.
Problems with the crew; They quickly serve food. They dont serve or show alcohol but serve if you ask for it. As soon as the food is over, they make seatbelt on light and announce that turulence is ahead so pls be seated; All the crew then go to the rear pantry area and try to sit together for the whole time. This is to avoid requests and generally to be relaxed in the back. They come, of course, if you use the calling button on wired remote. Is that not demeaning the passengers?
They need to grow up.
I did not like the baby bassinet provided by Emirates. It is not even half-the-size if you compare the ones which Air India Provides. My baby cannot even stretch his legs and sleep. Many on board wont even fit easily. This is something I would expect in a long haul flight. That was miserable.
One more point to note is that the baby strollers given by Emirates in Dubai while transit is bare-minimum. You cannot have configurations in that stroller. No cushion etc. Like, you cannot make the strolley become flat, like our strolleys, so your kid can sleep like in bed. Not good when you have long transit hours.
Otherwise, I had ok experience with checkin, and while on air; I would still fly Emirates if I want to stopover at Dubai for any shopping.
