This is a critical Review of EMPI B School, facilities and faculties.
I myself have been a student of EMPI in 2003-2005 batch. Believe me nobody else can give a better picture of this Educational Institution than the students themselves.
Firstly, the whole business school is running on Hype.
Overseas Affiliations:
I would (even my whole batch mates) tell that its a commercially high and educationally inferior institution. Basically it claims to have associations with overseas institutions. EMPI has only informal relationships through guest lectures, who come to EMPI during their off seasons or vacation. Even some affiliations that EMPI claim to have are with such institutions that are inferior in their own native place, and also ones that are on the run for their money, and deliberately need an international joint venture. And at EMPI doing an international programme is not at all any good.
Commercial and Infrastructural Setup:
The school runs on a campus that is presently disputed with MCD (Municipal Commision of Delhi) as Illegal. Many buildings have been built without proper approval from the goverment. The source of funding is purely from the huge fees that the management collects from the students:
An average student pays around INR 500000 in fees and accomodation and with over 300 students, in PGDBM, PGDGBM, PGADcom, PGHRM, GSEM. The revenue covers approximately around INR 15 Cr, just from the tutions and accomodation.
The School didnt even have the basic ammenities till 2004, during which the new courses were conducted in inhospitable classrooms. The facultly remains the worst part in all courses, with limited knowledge of the subject. The Infrastuctural setup for Executive Fitness Programme was very good, but still it is leased from CSKM School, that means the B School has not even a basketball court to its name.
Faculty lineup:
EMPI Business School has the worst faculty line up in terms of
a) Knowledge of the Subject - Average
b) Industry Interaction - Nil
c) Faculty morale - Below Average, less commitment
d) English speaking ability - Poor
e) Faculty shortage - 50% of the course time.
Job Prospects:
There is no working placement cell
The Course is not as per Industry requirement
99% of students have to search job, internship, summer training on their own, for preferred company
15% of students have are rarely helped for job related activities.
Any student passing out from EMPI will have the following rating:
Knowledge of Course Subject - 40%
Conceptual knowledge - 5%
Current Affairs - 20%
Initiative - 90% - Since they have to fend.
Morale - least
Usually EMPI students do well in less creative areas other than AdCom, but will be average in any field requiring communication skills.
Hype Channels:
EMPI Organisation has been constantly trying to hype its image through media (print, television, internet and public events), without the understanding that students passing out from the institution will provide more footage than others.
Through its political and bureaucratic reach - Contributes mainly to the EMPI Charisma.
Finally, students who study and pass out of EMPI will not give a negative marking to the institution because it will affect the student’s career more than anything else.
Parents: Even if you are having a lot of money never try EMPI for your Kids
