Ladies and Gentlemen, its time for Mother of all Battles. Yes, its time for Ashes, and am reviewing the English team, as there is nothing much I can say about the great Australian team.
Well, the England team has just lost its 11th consecutive one day match. It lost the last test match played against Pakistan. This team is really in a bad patch, and bad morale level.
First, the Captain. Hussain does not have the exploits of Waugh or Pollock, but has proved to be a very effective Captain. English team started to win under his leadership, even when his batting performance has been low. Very good leader and a efficient leader. But, without him, the team seems to be in a huge problem, lacking any spirit. They probably believe that, without Hussain, they cannot win.
Let me first talk about the Bowling. They have a pretty good seam attack in Gough and Caddick. These two are bowling very well and are capable of destroying any batting line up on their day. Dominick Cork is a decent bowler and a good fielder. He too is capable of taking some wickets. Here ends their bowling capabilities. There is no variety in their attack, but can be destructive.
Their batting very much like India has some pretty impressive names. Artherton, Trescothic, Thorpe, Stewart and Hussain. All of them have very healthy averages, and have won mathces for thier country. But, they are very much prone to collapses, and have collapsed in many occassions. More importantly this is the phenomenon in the recent times.
The bad news for Englad is that Australia is in a very good form and looking for their Ashes. Good news is that Hussain will be back and England look different side under him. Both the teams are playing Ashes after lossed to India and Pakistan, and this should be a very good Ashes, a change from what we are witnessing for the past few years.
