This book is the best I’ve read so far. Being Indian and also being able to relate to the circumstances and feeling of the author, I think had an even stronger impact. I love the part where he mentions the British government and cultural impositions have turned us into a nation of cultural morons but efficient clerks.
That line holds true even to this day. All my schooling I was led to believe that speaking and writing english in gramatically manner was the right thing. We even believed english made you elite. Had to travel across the continent and live in the USA to realize all the bogus stuff that I was exposed to. At times I feel like a trained robot programmed to do stuff in engineering that I have been trained to do. Unfortunately the British introduced this system to help their government and to manipulate the Indians. That system just continued even after they left and still does even today.
